MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - The summer cups of the strongest athletes of Belarus and Russia will be held from May to August 2025, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev said at the joint board meeting of the sports ministries of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 16 February, BelTA learned.
It is planned that
the tournaments will be held in 12 summer sports. Such competitions of the best
athletes of the two countries have already become a good tradition. Belarusian Sport
and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk noted that yesterday the Winter Biathlon Cup
started in Raubichi, and soon Minsk Arena will host the tournament of the best
speed skaters of Belarus and Russia.
Even in the current
difficult sanctions conditions, Belarus and Russia manage to deliver high-quality
competitions, Sergei Kovalchuk emphasized. He thanked his Russian colleagues
for cooperation and the opportunity to hold joint tournaments with the
participation of the strongest athletes. He also congratulated Mikhail
Degtyarev on his election as President of the Russian Olympic Committee and
expressed confidence that mutually beneficial cooperation would continue in the
future.
