MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) - World Boxing has allowed Belarusian and Russian athletes to take part in competitions held under its auspices with neutral status, BelTA learned from World Boxing’s press service.
The international federation noted that Belarusian and Russian athletes will not be allowed to compete with national symbols. Instead, Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) logo will be on their uniforms. To take part in World Boxing tournaments, boxers will have to undergo a thorough check. The procedure for obtaining neutral status reflects the approach previously adopted by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
In March, the Executive Board of World Boxing approved Belarus’ and Russia’s applications to join the organization. In 2025, the IOC provisionally recognized World Boxing as the international federation governing boxing at the global level. The boxing tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games will be held under the auspices of World Boxing.
