MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a telephone conversation with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan on 29 April, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.
The heads of state discussed the Belarus-Kazakhstan relations, noting the strong momentum of contacts at various levels. Over the past six months alone, a number of significant bilateral visits have taken place. The Belarusian prime minister and foreign affairs minister visited Kazakhstan, while Minsk hosted the chairman of the Mazhilis of the Kazakh Parliament.
Aleksandr Lukashenko and Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev also reviewed the schedule of upcoming events and visits. At the end of May, Astana will host the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum. The presidents explored the list of issues that will shape the agenda of these international forums.
Ahead of the great common holiday, Victory Day, the leaders exchanged congratulations and wished the peoples of Belarus and Kazakhstan peace and prosperity.
Aleksandr Lukashenko renewed his invitation for his Kazakh counterpart to make an official visit to Belarus in order to comprehensively discuss all current issues on the bilateral agenda and outline promising projects and future plans. A Kazakh delegation led by the prime minister is also expected to visit Minsk this autumn to take part in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the INNOPROM international exhibition.
