MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Tasty food products, well-kept villages and forests, innovations and technologies, and people who have shown what one can achieve when order prevails in a country, Sergei Karnaukhov, PhD in Law, expert on security services, said in a new episode of BelTA’s project V Teme [On Point].
The expert noted that Belarus looks after its people while advancing both its economy and social services. “I will say it again: Belarus deserves compliments. A stable perception has taken hold in Russian society: Belarus means good food, cleanliness, and strong agriculture. It means a fantastic light industry; we have suddenly begun noticing in Belarusian shops that [you use] your own fabric, your own thread, your own design. And above all, Belarus means innovation and technology. We need to understand that this is one of those cases where Lukashenko is Belarus, and Belarus is Lukashenko, because he managed to build all of this. And I can see how he does it,” said Sergei Karnaukhov.

The expert recalled a visit he made to Belarusian villages in 2011. “I saw that the paths in the villages were paved with colored tiles, and everything was mown. I was traveling with the governor of Kaliningrad Oblast, and he said: ‘Where is the hogweed? And where are the burdocks? Why is everything mown?’ He walked over, and there was water flowing – drainage canals had been dug. We went into the forest. We walked around and saw that deadwood had been cut down, neatly stacked, and was being hauled away. We drove deeper to see that everything was equally well kept. Try driving somewhere in our villages. It’s a disaster, a nightmare! It’s a matter of having a master in charge. And here I understand that, looking at Belarus, we must adopt this model for the future. The country has a master,” Sergei Karnaukhov remarked.
