Technical committees of Belarus, Russia pool efforts in smart standardization

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – A cooperation agreement was signed between Belarus’ standardization technical committee TK BY 41 “Digital development and communications” and the Russian Federation’s technical committee on standardization TK 711 “Smart documents” on the sidelines of the international conference “Products in the digital world 2026. Innovative solutions in classification and cataloguing” in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The document was signed by Denis Burak, Head of the Center for Advanced Research in Digital Development of OAO Giprosvyaz, Deputy Chairman of TK BY 41, and Sergei Tikhomirov, Director General of the Kodeks Consortium Association, Chairman of TK 711 (Russian Federation).

Denis Burak expressed confidence that this agreement will become the foundation for fruitful interaction for the sake of effective exchange of views and experience, synchronization of approaches to standardization, which will contribute to the formation of digital sovereignty and its support both in Belarus and the Russian Federation. “This will make our digital services and the digital state more convenient and safer for our citizens and businesses. There is a lot of work ahead of us and I am confident that we will manage it,” he added.

Sergei Tikhomirov emphasized that a new stage of cooperation is opening between specialists from Belarus and Russia not just in standardization, but in SMART standardization. “At the same time, we are expanding international cooperation because a similar subcommittee on SMART standards has already been established in Kazakhstan. I hope that as a result of cooperation and collaboration we will advance this area,” he shared.

The event has been organized by the Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelGISS) in association with the Kodeks Consortium. About 350 specialists from government bodies and organizations, leading experts in cataloguing and information coding, representatives of the private sector with practical developments and digital proposals from Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, and Uzbekistan are taking part in the conference in person and online.

The conference will consider matters of classification and cataloguing of products, the application of SMART standards and artificial intelligence technologies in the standardization ecosystem.

On 29 April the conference will continue with a session of the working group on cataloguing of the Euro-Asian Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification, during which matters of development of cataloguing work at the CIS level are supposed to be discussed.
