MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – On the sidelines of the meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states in Bishkek on 28 April, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin held a working meeting with India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
The Belarusian side noted the friendly and constructive nature of relations between the two countries and highlighted the similarity of their positions in assessing global developments. Special attention was paid to the shared view that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for resolving existing conflicts.
While discussing bilateral military cooperation, the parties reviewed interim results of joint work in 2026 and emphasized the importance of striving for concrete outcomes. They also put forward several proposals to increase the effectiveness of military cooperation, with a focus on practical engagement.
Rajnath Singh stressedc that last year ten Belarusian servicemen underwent training in India, and the Indian side is ready to allocate training quotas for the coming year as well.
In turn, Viktor Khrenin praised the high training standards used in India. Belarusian servicemen undergo training in the country across a wide range of specialties.
The Belarusian minister also invited representatives of the Indian Armed Forces to observe combat training activities in Belarus. “There are plenty of areas for cooperation, and they are diverse,” Viktor Khrenin emphasized.
