MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) - The Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has generated a total of 60 billion kWh of electricity, BelTA learned from the Energy Ministry.
“This has made it possible to replace approximately 16 billion cubic meters of natural gas. Each power unit of the plant produces about 28 million kWh of electricity per day. The share of nuclear generation in Belarus’ total electricity production is approximately 40%,” the Energy Ministry said.
Modern approaches to safety, based on international standards and the experience of nuclear energy development, have been implemented during the construction and operation of the plant.
“BelNPP contributes to the country’s energy security, ensures a stable electricity supply for the population and the economy, and helps reduce the use of natural gas,” the Energy Ministry said.
