MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) - Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus has secured her second victory at the Mutua Madrid Open 2026 with a prize pool of $8.2 million, BelTA has learned.
In the third-round match, the world number one faced Romania’s world number 33 Jaqueline Cristian and won in two sets, 6-1, 6-4. In the opener, the Belarusian defeated World No.43 Peyton Stearns of the USA, 7-5, 6-3. In the quarterfinal bid, Aryna Sabalenka will face either Ukraine’s world number 110 Angelina Kalinina and Japan’s world number 15 Naomi Osaka.
Aryna Sabalenka is a three-time champion of the Mutua Madrid Open (2021, 2023, 2025). In last year’s final, she defeated Coco Gauff of the USA. This year’s tournament on the clay courts of the Spanish capital will conclude on 3 May.
