Lukashenko sends birthday greetings to UN secretary general

MINSK, 30 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent birthday greetings to United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian head of state.

The president expressed confidence that at a time when the organization is facing not only external challenges but also internal difficulties, it is more important than ever to maintain determination in upholding the UN’s leadership and authority. “The Republic of Belarus remains committed to the goals of the organization, demonstrating firmness and consistency in its efforts to address key issues of peace and security,” the Belarusian leader said.

The head of state stressed that Belarus attaches special importance to its traditionally multifaceted cooperation with the UN, as well as with other countries, on the basis of mutual respect and trust. “At the same time, we consider it essential to adhere to the principles of sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states,” he added.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished António Guterres good health, happiness, and boundless energy.
