Belarusian ambassador to Austria presents credentials to Austrian president

MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) - Belarusian Ambassador to Austria Andrei Dapkiunas presented credentials to Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.

The embassy reported earlier that Andrei Dapkiunas, who is also Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the International Organizations in Vienna, presented credentials to Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Li Yong in an official ceremony on 22 September.

During the conversation with the UNIDO head Andrei Dapkiunas emphasized the importance of UNIDO's work to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development, digitalization of production and utilizing the potential of the fourth industrial revolution. The Belarusian diplomat noted the successful implementation of the regional cooperation program with the participation of the Belarusian center for resource efficient and cleaner production.

Andrei Dapkiunas welcomed the launch of new technical cooperation project on smart manufacturing in Belarus. The parties also agreed to sign an updated cooperation framework between Belarus and UNIDO soon.

As it has been reported, in July Andrei Dapkiunas was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Austria and concurrently to the Republic of Slovenia, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to international organizations based in Vienna and concurrently to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Following the appointment, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said that Austria plays an important role for us both in terms of economic cooperation and as a country that hosts the headquarters of many regional and international organizations: the OSCE, a number of UN agencies. “Interaction with them is of great importance for us,” the minister stressed.
