Belarusian engine manufacturer MMZ busy implementing new projects

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian engine manufacturer MMZ is implementing new projects concerning the production of special-purpose vehicles or utility vehicles, the MMZ press service told BelTA.

According to the source, product engineers have to work hard and many manufacturing processes have to be polished before new products are offered to the market. The efforts can produce new modifications of existing engines and special-purpose vehicles. Better parts, a custom choice of optional hardware allow MMZ to create new diesel generator plants.

As a major project MMZ is intent on making and testing diesel engines at premises of an MMZ trading house in the Russian city of Noginsk. The enterprise is supposed to assemble up to 5,000 MMZ engines per annum. A test bench for MMZ-3LD engines is being designed as part of the preparations.

As far as the production and sales of special-purpose vehicles are concerned, 2020 was an intensive and fruitful year for MMZ. Demand for such vehicles grew higher, particularly in Russia, the source noted. MMZ sold 64 special-purpose vehicles to Russia in 2019 and 186 vehicles in 2020.

Several projects were finished in 2020. One of them was the creation of a diesel generator plant that boasts an improved design and better consumer qualities largely thanks to a French alternator (alternating current generator). The French product offers the best value for money. MMZ diesel generator plants, which rely on this alternator, sell well in Russia. In particular, the Samara-based company EnergoSpetsStroiServis is a regular customer. MMZ adopted the new alternator as part of its diesel generator upon proposals of the Russian company. A number of modifications were implemented into the original design as a result. The improved diesel generator is expected to greatly increase MMZ's presence on the Russian market.

The recent accomplishments also include the launch of batch production of diesel generator plants with an electronic regulator of the high-pressure fuel pump. The new regulator maintains precise rotation speeds throughout the workload spectrum. The frequency of the generated electric current and the need to keep it at 50Hz depend on it. Some of the diesel generators have already been shipped to customers.

MMZ continues designing control systems for diesel generator plants used for strategic installations. For instance, a level 3.1 ABP system (automatic standby activation) was installed for a customer in late 2020. The new system is designed to keep a facility powered using two transformer substations and one diesel generator plant while automatically switching between sources of power when necessary.

Minsk Motor Plant (MMZ trademark) makes modern diesel engines, gas and diesel engines, and gas reciprocating engines. The company specializes in developing, designing, and making modern three-, four-, six-, and eight-cylinder engines. The company offers over 100 modifications of engines with their output varying from 7kW to 330kW. They are designed to power agricultural machines, road construction machines, forestry vehicles, automobiles, buses, power supply plants, compressors, and other kinds of machinery. MMZ engines are shipped to conveyor belts of 49 enterprises in Belarus, Russia, CIS, and non-CIS states. The products are sold in more than 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, North and Latin America. Components of internationally recognized manufacturers are used to make MMZ engines.
