MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – It will be difficult for Polish Krakow, the host of the 3rd European Games, to match Minsk, journalist of Polska Agencja Prasowa (PAP) Jerzy Jakobsche said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“It will not be easy to be up to par. But we have stadiums and people like watching competitions,” said Jerzy Jakobsche.
“The Olympic Games are the most important sport event on the planet. The European Games also play an important role. They are a so-called bridge to the Olympics,” Jerzy Jakobsche said. In his words, such multi-sport event is important not only for the achievement of new heights in sport. It also provides an opportunity for everyone else to take part and make a name.
Speaking about the performance of Team Poland in Minsk, the journalist said that there were not as many medals as they hoped to. He praised the atmosphere at the games as cheerful and inspiring.
