MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Five Belarusians clinched medal at the 2026 European Wrestling Championships in Albania’s capital Tirana, BelTA has learned.
Dzmitry Shamela was the last Belarusian wrestler to vie for a medal, but his bronze-medal bout in the 61 kg category ended in defeat. As a result, the team finished with five medals overall (0-2-3). Silver medals went to Alina Shevchuk (68 kg) and Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau (79 kg), while bronze medals were claimed by Greco-Roman wrestler Pavel Glinchuk (130 kg) and freestyle wrestlers Aryian Tiutrin (57 kg) and Islam Guseinov (65 kg).
Narrowly missing out on bronze were Vanesa Kaladzinskaya (53 kg), Aryna Dzemchanka (57 kg), and Marta Hetmanava (59 kg), as well as Greco-Roman wrestlers Aliaksandr Liavonchyk (72 kg), Ihar Yarashevich (87 kg), and Kiryl Maskevich (97 kg). For context, Belarusians secured seven medals (1-1-5) at the previous year’s European Championship in Slovakia.
