HC Dinamo Minsk storm to top of KHL Western Conference after home win

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk have claimed a victory in their last home outing of 2025 in the regular championship of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), BelTA has learned.

HC Dynamo Moscow was the final opponent to visit Minsk Arena in 2025. The game marked a milestone for the home team’s coach Dmitri Kvartalnov, as it was his 1,000th as a coach of the Minsk Bisons’ over a 16-year career in the KHL. HC Dinamo Minsk struck first in the tenth minute, as Vadim Shipachyov found the back of the net with a precise shot, earning his 996th career point in the KHL. Nikita Pyshkailo made it 2-0 for the hosts with only 16 seconds left in the period.
Sam Anas troubled the visitors again in the second period, as he found the net in his fourth straight match, while his linemates Vitaly Pinchuk and Alex Limoges kept their own point streaks alive. Towards the end of the period, HC Dinamo Minsk’s Vadim Moroz was sent to the penalty box twice in a row for a total of seven minutes, allowing Moscow to convert on one of their power-play opportunities.
The third period saw Anas score his second of the night for a double, while Sergei Kuznetsov added another goal. Ty Smith provided assists on both plays. Although the visiting team replied with two goals of their own in the period, the final horn sounded on a 5-3 win for HC Dinamo Minsk. Less than a week ago, Dmitri Kvartalnov’s squad crushed the Moscow side 7-1 on home ice.
Over the course of the home series, the Minsk Bisons secured six of a possible eight points to claim the lead in the Western Conference. Both HC Severstal Cherepovets and HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl are just one point behind. The Minsk club will play its final match of 2025 away against HC Salavat Yulaev Ufa on 30 December. The face-off in Ufa is scheduled for 5 p.m.
