MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - Measures to provide additional support for young researchers are being prepared in Belarus, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Discussions are underway regarding payments for candidates who defend their dissertations within the standard timeframe after completing postgraduate studies. This would serve as additional support for young researchers who complete their scientific work promptly and to a high standard. The level of support for research supervisors is also being discussed.
“There are three most active areas: first of all, academic science, which trains highly qualified personnel; industry-specific science - primarily the Healthcare Ministry and the Industry Ministry; and university science, under the Education Ministry. Currently, we are discussing additional payments for candidates who defend their dissertations within the established timeframe after postgraduate studies. This would be extra support for young researchers who complete their scientific work quickly and at a high level. The level of support for supervisors is also under discussion. I believe that all these proposals will soon form the basis of legal and regulatory acts at the level of the Council of Ministers and presidential decrees,” Vladimir Karanik said.
