MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - Promoting national culture and traditions helps strengthen comprehensive cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus Bakhtovar Safarzoda at the opening of Tajikistan’s first restaurant Omar Khayyam in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Tajik embassy in Belarus.

“The opening of this establishment is an important step in promoting Tajik culture, traditions, and national cuisine in Belarus, and will also help strengthen cultural ties and expand humanitarian cooperation between the two countries,” Bakhtovar Safarzoda emphasized.

Guests were introduced to traditional Tajik dishes, including plov, qurutob, and other classic meals, as well as a cultural program featuring musical performances and elements of national rites.
Cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan is gaining momentum in many areas. This is evidenced by the recent visit to Minsk of a business delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan. The visit took place at the invitation of the Mogilev Oblast and Minsk Oblast governors. The delegation was led by the chairperson of Sughd Region of the Republic of Tajikistan. Meetings were held with regional leaders, representatives of government bodies, and business communities of the Republic of Belarus, during which the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as the implementation of joint projects in industry, agriculture, and other mutually beneficial areas. The visit program also included tours of several industrial enterprises and bilateral negotiations. As a result of the meetings, documents aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation were signed.
