Belarusian Railways helps passengers stranded by Lithuania freight train derailment

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - Train No. 147 Moscow–Kaliningrad departed from Gudogai station at 15.15. The movement of trains No. 29 Moscow–Kaliningrad and No. 79 St. Petersburg–Kaliningrad is now also resuming, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Railways press service.

Earlier, Belarusian Railways informed that several passenger trains were delayed due to a derailment of freight cars in Lithuania.

Passengers on the aforementioned trains have received assistance, including food, drinking water, and medical support. “Public order has been maintained at the stopping points of the trains at Gudogai and Molodechno stations,” the press service said.

The trains are continuing along their routes to their destinations. For more detailed information on train schedules, passengers can call the Belarusian Railways Contact Center at 105.

As previously reported, a locomotive and four freight cars derailed in Kaunas District of Lithuania. The accident also halted traffic on adjacent tracks, affecting more than 20 passenger trains.
