MINSK, 1 May (BelTA) – Working people are the ones who build our nation’s achievements with their own hands, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Olga Chupris told journalists during the Labor Day celebrations in Minsk’s Victory Park, BelTA has learned.
Olga Chupris noted that the history of Labor Day spans many decades across the world. “This holiday is celebrated in more than 100 countries. Although it may have lost its political context, it remains a celebration that brings joy to people all across the globe,” she stressed. “Belarus is a country that has preserved Soviet traditions for celebrating this day. On this day, we celebrate the results of our efforts in labor, science, and arts. For us, working people are the backbone of our society as their dedication builds our achievements and secures the country’s path toward a prosperous future.”
“We are building our peaceful labor future and guiding everyone toward this very approach that allows us to grow, to step forward with courage, and to face our future with calm confidence,” Olga Chupris said. “Labor Day is a public holiday in Belarus, and notably, many Belarusians use it to visit their country houses to work on their land for the first time after winter. They celebrate labor through actual labor.”
The deputy head of the Presidential Administration stressed that traditionally, the country also honors its labor veterans in the run-up to the holiday. “Our present is built upon their very achievements. These are people who have dedicated decades to a single factory, agricultural enterprise, school, or hospital. They have raised a new generation of working people who will, in turn, pass their experience on to others. That is why on this day, we both celebrate and we work,” Olga Chupris added.
