HC SKA Minsk win Belarus Handball Cup for tenth time

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – HC SKA Minsk have won the Belarus Men’s Handball Cup for the tenth time, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Nikulenkov’s team edged out HC Meshkov Brest in the decisive match by a narrow margin of 32-31 in Mogilev on 3 May. Brest have won the national cup 15 times, while Minsk last took the trophy in 2023. In the semifinals, HC SKA confidently defeated HC Gomel, 39-28, while HC Meshkov Brest beat HC Masheka Mogilev, 29-26. In the bronze medal match, HC Mogilev defeated HC Gomel, 31-27.
Two weeks ago, the Belarus Women’s Handball Cup was held in Lida. In the final, HC BNTU-BelAZ defeated HC Gomel, 30-25. HC Gorodnichanka Grodno took bronze, beating HC Berestie Brest, 29-25. The medal matches begin next week. The gold match will feature the reigning champion HC BNTU-BelAZ and HC Gomel, while HC Gorodnichanka Grodno and HC SKA Minsk will compete for the bronze medals.
