MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Russian historian, Director of the Institute for Systemic and Strategic Analysis Andrei Fursov explained when the formation of new global macro-zones began in a recent episode of BelTA’s V Teme [On Point] project.
According to him, the redrawing of the world started with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the West’s aggression against Yugoslavia. “Then came Iraq and Afghanistan: that was more of a ‘test run’. In my view, the real struggle for a new macro-zonal order began with the Syrian conflict. It continued with the COVID campaign, then with the conflict in Eastern Europe, and now with the events in Iran,” Andrei Fursov said.
“On the one hand, the old system is indeed collapsing: this is an objective process. On the other hand, it is partly being steered by those who intend to become the masters of this new world. Note the logic behind the actions of the United States. Washington has been systematically removing Russia’s and China’s objective allies: Venezuela, Iran. But Iran is where they stumbled,” he said.
According to the analyst’s forecast, the “Iranian adventure” may become the last by the United States. “After this, they will truly focus on their own hemisphere. It is one thing to get a grip on Venezuela or try to get a grip on Cuba, and quite another to clash with Iran. First, it is far from America, and second, Russia and China stand behind it,” Andrei Fursov emphasized.
