MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – Belarus is beginning the payment of financial assistance ahead of Victory Day, the press service of the Belarusian Labor and Social Protection Ministry told BelTA.
One-time financial assistance will be paid through 8 May. Payments of Br5,000 will be made to persons with disabilities and participants of the Great Patriotic War, as well as to individuals who took part in combat operations in defense of the Fatherland before 3 September 1945.
Payments of Br2,500 will be provided to those awarded USSR orders or medals for selfless labor on the home front during the Great Patriotic War; to individuals who worked at air-defense facilities, local air-defense units, on the construction of defensive structures, naval bases, airfields, and other military facilities within the rear boundaries of active fronts; on frontline sections of railways and highways; as well as to those who worked at enterprises, institutions, and organizations in Leningrad during the blockade from 8 September 1941 to 27 January 1944 and were awarded the medal For the Defense of Leningrad, and to holders of the badge Resident of Besieged Leningrad.
Additionally, Br1,500 will be paid to family members of servicemen, partisans, and underground fighters who were killed (or died) or went missing during the Great Patriotic War (spouses who have not remarried, children with childhood disabilities, including adopted children, and other dependents eligible for pension increases under the law); to former underage prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, prisons, and ghettos, as well as former underage prisoners of other forced-detention sites created by the Nazis and their allies during World War II who are entitled to pension increases; and to individuals with childhood disabilities resulting from wounds, concussions, or injuries related to combat operations during the Great Patriotic War or the consequences of wartime actions.
A total of Br10.6 million from the national budget has been allocated for the payment of this one-time financial assistance.
