Andrei Lukyanovich
MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - A difficult military-political situation is developing around Belarus, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces Andrei Lukyanovich told the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“A difficult military-political situation is currently unfolding. This is primarily due to the unprecedented militarization of our neighbors and the European continent, the ongoing military conflicts we are witnessing, and NATO’s expansion. Our duty crews record violations of the state border in the airspace almost every day,” Andrei Lukyanovich said.
These violations are a result of the country’s geographic location. “We have protrusions both into Ukrainian territory and into Russian territory, in the south and in the east,” Andrei Lukyanovich explained. “As a result, unmanned aerial vehicles sometimes deviate from flight paths that pass near our borders and violate the airspace. Electronic warfare measures can also affect flight routes. We record these incidents. When the state border is breached and an aerial target enters the airspace of the Republic of Belarus, if that target poses a threat to our critical infrastructure, it is destroyed.”
