HC Dinamo Minsk secure away win over HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod

MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk secured their first win of the current away series in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular championship, BelTA has learned.

In their second away match, the Minsk club faced HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. Despite outshooting their opponents 15-7 in the first period, HC Dinamo Minsk found themselves down 0-1 at the break. The scoring opened up in the second frame. Yegor Borikov ignited the goal fest with a power-play strike at 24th minute, but Nizhny Novgorod needed only 90 seconds to snatch the lead back.

The Minsk Bisons turned the game around midway through the contest. Alex Limoges and Ilya Usov struck twice in just 90 seconds to put HC Dinamo Minsk ahead 3-2. The teams traded goals late in the period, with Sam Anas responding for the visitors. Both Limoges and Anas stretched their personal point streaks to seven games. A scoreless third period sealed the 4-3 win for the Minsk side.

Dmitri Kvartalnov’s team has now earned points in seven of their last eight matches. HC Dinamo Minsk have returned to second place in the Western Conference, holding the same number of points (78) as HC Severstal Cherepovets, with HC Lokomotiv Yaroslavl five points ahead. The Minsk team’s next challenge is two consecutive games against the season’s underdogs HC Sochi, which will take place on the opponent’s ice on 25 and 27 February.
