MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - The flight of Belarus’ first cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya was very successful from the scientific point of view, Director General of the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Kruglikov told a press conference on 11 April, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus became a space country back in 2012 - with the launch of the first satellite. Today our country has its Earth remote sensing spacecraft, communications satellite and its own cosmonaut. The manned flight was very successful, and all the experiments were carried out from a scientific point of view. We will summarize the results in the near future and plan to invite Belarus’ first cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya to our institute,” Sergei Kruglikov said.
Marina Vasilevskaya’s flight lasted for 14 days, including 12 days aboard the International Space Station (ISS). While on the ISS Marina Vasilevskaya carried out a research program, which had been developed by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in association with Roscosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences.
