Lukashenko proposes rail link between Logoisk and Minsk

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has proposed establishing a rail link between Logoisk and Minsk to support the development of Logoisk as a satellite city of the capital. He made this statement during a working trip to Minsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.

“Logoisk is a satellite city of Minsk. Perhaps we need to build some kind of railway line. I've looked into it. Maybe even alongside the road in both directions we could lay the tracks… Something needs to be done. We should stop all new housing construction in Minsk and instead build housing in these satellite towns. People could get to Minsk in 20-30 minutes. They would work – and then return home. But that’s a separate conversation,” the president said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also emphasized the importance of clearly determining where agro-towns should be developed within the districts. “I think we’ve agreed on this. We’ve identified potential locations for these agro-towns, and now it's time to develop and build them,” he noted.
