MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Belarus has something to respond to external aggression with, like never before, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a ceremony to mark the Day of People’s Unity at Minsk Arena on 17 September, BelTA has learned.
"I have already said: Belarusian peacefulness should not be mistaken for weakness. When I say this, I'm not bluffing or exaggerating. I am not. We do have something to respond with, like never before," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
"We sacredly honor the memory of all those who selflessly defended the right of Belarusians to be an independent nation and gave their lives and youth for this. We will not allow anyone to encroach on the holy land of our ancestors, on the independence and sovereignty of our Motherland. We will consistently defend our ancestral values and truth, as our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers did. If someone, perhaps one of you, outside this hall doubts that we will never give Belarus up for desecration, we will persuade you. We will try hard to persuade you. So that you understand that you have no other land and never will," the Belarusian leader stressed.
