MOSCOW, 8 October (BelTA) - Russia is committed to enhancing comprehensive cooperation in the CIS, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Moscow on 8 October, BelTA has learned.
“Cooperation within the CIS is one of the main priorities of the Russian Federation's foreign policy,” Vladimir Putin emphasized. “ For us, the CIS countries are our closest neighbors, friends and strategic partners. We are committed to enhancing our cooperation in every possible way. According to him, this is what the concept of the Russian presidency in the CIS in 2024 and the plan of relevant activities are aimed at.”
The head of state described the agenda of the event as very rich. Much attention will be paid to economic topics and prospects for further expansion of trade and investment cooperation in the CIS. “I am confident that we have every opportunity to launch new major mutually beneficial projects in industry, agriculture, finance, and infrastructure,” Vladimir Putin said.
The summit participants also intend to exchange views on a wide range of other topical topics of the CIS from common security to cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian matters, the Russian leader noted. “We will discuss concrete steps to expand partnership in all these areas, and, of course, we will talk about what else should be done to improve the effectiveness of the CIS and its bodies ,” the Russian president summarized.
