Belarusian senator observing elections in Serbia

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, member of the Political Affairs and International Cooperation Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) Sergei Rachkov is in Serbia on 1-3 April as a member of the international observation mission sent by the CSTO PA to observe preparations for and actual preterm elections to the parliament and a regular presidential election, the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus told BelTA.

As part of international observation the international observers met with President of the National Assembly of Serbia Ivica Dacic on 1 April. MPs remarked upon the significance of international observation of electoral processes and stressed the objectivity and impartiality of the international observers sent by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

Sergei Rachkov conveyed greetings from Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova and mentioned the readiness of the Belarusian side to advance bilateral cooperation with Serbia in various areas for the benefit of the two nations.

Representatives of the international observation mission sent by the CSTO PA also met with Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic and Chairman of the Republic Electoral Commission of Serbia Vladimir Dimitrijevic.

Belarus' intention to advance cooperation with Serbia across the board was underlined during the brief conversation with the Serbian minister of foreign affairs.
