MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – It is impossible to stay indifferent looking at thousands of destitute people, especially women and children, trapped at the Belarusian-Polish border, member of the Board of the Belarusian Women's Union, Chairwoman of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom Tatyana Lugina told BelTA.
“The situation at the Belarusian-Polish border is discomforting and disturbing. It is impossible to remain indifferent to the plight of thousands of destitute people, especially women and children. As a woman and a mother I wholeheartedly support the initiative of the head of state to place migrant children in comfortable conditions. After all, we, Belarusians, have long been known for our benevolence and kindness,” Tatyana Lugina said.
She expressed hope that governments in collaboration with international organizations will be able to promptly resolve the problem in accordance with international human rights standards and give these unfortunate people access to humanitarian aid and allow them to apply for asylum.
