MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) - Belarus’ interests should be taken into account in the war settlement in Ukraine, political scientist Piotr Petrovsky said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“The president has spoken about it, and our diplomacy is working on it. What are these interests? We must have security guarantees that we will not be attacked either openly or with the use of hybrid methods,” Piotr Petrovsky noted.
He also called the return of Belarusian property an important condition: “Not only the state property such Belaruskali rail cars or other things but also the enterprises that our entrepreneurs built there and that were simply stolen.”
In addition, Piotr Petrovsky believes that free trade and transit should be taken into account. The matter is about access to the ports of, for example, Odessa and Nikolayev. “This is our strategic task,” he added.
The political scientist also drew attention to the inadmissibility of spreading the Nazi ideology. “There is little talk about it now, because everyone is busy fighting geopolitical battles. But this is also important, especially in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory. We see the interactions between Poland and Ukraine. Kiev says to Poland: you know, Bandera's monuments are ok, and if you are against Bandera, you are against Ukraine. But that’s like comparing apples to oranges. Ukraine is not Bandera. We know the true heroes of Ukraine,” Piotr Petrovsky emphasized.
