MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – We will continue to resist attempts by the West to rewrite history, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said during a plenary session of the conference "The Female Face of Victory" held under the auspices of the Council of the Republic and the Belarusian Women's Union, BelTA has learned.
"The Nazi hydra has revived and is once again attempting to seize global dominance. We see how historical facts are being grossly distorted, the achievements of our veterans are being undervalued, and the victory is being claimed by those who barely participated in the war and did not lose a single soldier. The West manipulates and threatens sovereign countries within its own bloc that recognize the only truth about the Great Victory. Amid hybrid warfare, we have become even stronger. We must stand united against all informational provocations. Just as our ancestors did not kneel before enemies, we will not bow our heads to our adversary," Natalya Kochanova said. "To continue resisting attempts by the West to rewrite history, we will use all available civilized means: educational and cultural programs, public patriotic projects, scientific research, legislative initiatives and more."
"The strength of truth lies in our memory. This is why we hold scientific conferences, exhibitions, lectures, and discussions that shed light on the true events of the war, showcasing the heroism of our soldiers and civilians who survived the horrors of that nightmare," she added. "In this context, we reaffirm our crucial role in restoring justice. Every time we face attempts to distort the truth, we must respond with strong counterarguments based on documentary evidence, testimonies, and expert conclusions."

Historical memory is one of mankind's greatest cultural treasures, Natalya Kochanova emphasized. "As long as we honor the past, we will continue to grow and improve. The memory of the war calls us to take responsibility for peace on Earth. This is our main mission as descendants of the victors. We need to always remember their deeds, remember to avoid the repetition of those events. We bow down before all the women who, in heavy boots and military uniforms, brought the Victory closer in any way they could… as only our women could. Immortal glory to their heroic deeds," she concluded.

She emphasized the need to protect children and youth from the harmful influence of the West, pseudo-democracy and imposed values that erode moral foundations and ethical guidelines. "We need to remain the voice of truth on the global stage for those who gave us the right to speak 80 years ago," Natalya Kochanova stressed.

"Today, the memory of women's feats during the war lives not only in our hearts but also in the names of streets, monuments, and memorial complexes. Inspired by the great examples of the past, modern Belarusian women are making a significant contribution to strengthening the independence and prosperity of our beloved Belarus. They actively participate in the country’s political life, successfully manage large enterprises, implement innovative projects in the economy and science, develop culture and art, preserve national traditions, raise children, and protect our nation. This conference is an opportunity to once again remind the world of the invaluable contribution of our compatriots to the Victory over fascism, to inspire ourselves to new achievements and to draw the attention of youth who need to see the right role models," the speaker remarked.
