Judge: Polish politicians should restore dialogue with Belarus, Russia

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - Polish politicians should come to their senses and restore dialogue with Belarus and Russia, Polish judge Tomasz Szmydt said during a press conference in BelTA’s press center on 6 May.

“Why did I come here? It is an expression of protest against the way the policy towards Belarus and Russia is conducted,” Tomasz Szmydt said. “I can speak out thanks to BelTA.”

“Our politicians should come to their senses and restore dialogue with President Lukashenko and with Russia,” the Polish judge said.

Tomasz Szmydt is a judge of the 2nd Department of the Voivodeship Administrative Court of Warsaw. Previously, he held various positions in the Polish judiciary and justice system. He was the head of the legal department at the National Council of Judges of Poland. Due to disagreement with the policy and actions of the authorities, he was forced to leave Poland and is currently in Belarus. He was persecuted and threatened for his independent political position.

Tomasz Szmydt declares his protest to the Polish authorities who under the influence of the USA and the UK are leading the country to war.

In his words, the people of Poland stand for peace and good-neighborly relations with Belarus and Russia. Tomasz Szmydt has come to Minsk to tell the truth.
