MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – The West cannot accept the fact that it was not able to break Belarusian people, Mamuka Pipia, International Secretary of the Solidarity for Peace political party from Georgia told journalists at the Central Election Commission Information Center, BelTA reports.
“When the collective West went into a head-on fight, the leadership of Belarus remained unfazed. Of course, no one comes out of such fights intact. But Belarus prevailed, which greatly upset the West. They cannot accept the fact that Belarus managed to resist on its own,” Mamuka Pipia said.
That was his answer to the question of why the West is paying close attention to the election in Belarus.
Mamuka Pipia believes that the West cannot reconcile themselves to the fact that they failed to break Belarusians.
Mamuka Pipia went on saying that he had spoken with Belarusian students to find out what they think and feel. “What surprised me the most was that Belarus managed to win back the hearts and minds of its young people who were looking at the West. We need to figure out how the Belarusian leadership managed to do this. We [in Georgia] need to learn a lot [from Belarus],” he added.
Commenting on the assessments of Belarus' election by the West, Mamuka Pipia noted that it is up to them to recognize the election results or not. At the same time, he recommended that they mind their own business when it comes to politics and economy.
