MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – The State Control Committee of Belarus and Egypt’s Central Auditing Organization have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation on the sidelines of the 25th INTOSAI Congress (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions), BelTA learned from the press service of the State Control Committee of Belarus.

“The memorandum has practical significance. In the near future, it is necessary to work out an action plan for its implementation through specific events,” Chairman of Belarus’ State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov said.
He congratulated President of the Egyptian Central Auditing Organization Mohamed Al-Faisal Youssef on his election as the Chairman of INTOSAI for the next three years.

The parties noted the high level of international cooperation between their control bodies and shared similar approaches to oversight work. The prospects for economic cooperation between Belarus and Egypt were also discussed. Mohamed Al-Faisal Youssef accepted an invitation to visit Belarus for further exchange of views and experience.

On 29 October, the main event of the 25th INTOSAI Congress, the General Assembly meeting, began in Egypt. Delegations of supreme audit institutions (SAIs) from around the world are participating, including a delegation from the State Control Committee of Belarus led by Vasily Gerasimov.

The agenda includes plenary sessions on the main technical topics of the congress, speeches by heads of several SAIs, reports from INTOSAI regional organizations, and updates from active committees.

The INTOSAI Congress is the main event for the global audit community. The forum is held every three years and addresses the most significant and pressing issues in auditing and financial control.
