MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The army is prepared to resolutely use all the available forces and assets to protect the territory and the population of the Republic of Belarus from possible provocations in the air space, BelTA learned from Chief of the Air Defense Missile Forces of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces, Colonel Andrei Severinchik.
Andrei Severinchik noted that due to the tense situation at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, in particular, the concentration of air defense forces in Zhitomir Oblast, additional air defense forces and assets have been deployed to designated areas in order to cover the southern border as well as critical installations of the Republic of Belarus. Duty aviation units perform flights along the state border day and night for reconnaissance purposes and for the sake of responding to emerging tasks in the air space. Actions to ensure security in the air space are tightly coordinated with units of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
“We would like to warn and cool all the hot heads, who are trying to involve our country in an armed conflict: we are ready to resolutely use all the available forces and assets to protect the territory and the population of the Republic of Belarus from possible provocations in the air space,” the officer concluded.
BelTA reported earlier that a sharp increase in reconnaissance drone flights has been registered at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. The drones scout areas near the Belarusian border. The Belarusian state border gets constantly violated in the air space. No violations remain unanswered.
