CIS experts to discuss quality of life standards in Minsk

MINSK, 3 December (BelTA) – A session of the expert group in charge of agreeing the draft standards on quality of life will take place in the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 5-6 December, the committee's press service told BelTA.

The task to develop quality of life standards was formulated by the action plan on implementing the first stage of the CIS economic development strategy for the period till 2020. The standards are supposed to introduce minimal state guarantees to allow citizens of the CIS member states to exercise their social and economic rights. The standards are also supposed to set a reference point for implementing the state social and economic policy and ensure the sustainable development of the countries. A quality of life standard is viewed as a rather high standard, which is maintained by the CIS states and allows citizens to satisfy their needs, explained the press service.

The quality of life standards are supposed to regulate such areas as prosperity, social security, population and health, education, residential accommodation, quality of products and services, environmental situation, legal safety, culture, physical training and sport, tourism.
