MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky met with Major General Dr. Jassem Mohammed Al Marzouki, Commander-General of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior of the UAE, on the sidelines of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the International Civil Defense Organization (ICDO) in Abu Dhabi, BelTA learned from the press service of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus.
During the meeting, Vadim Sinyavsky briefed the counterpart about the tasks and functions of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus, its priority areas of activities, among which he highlighted the training of qualified personnel and cultivating life safety standards. The minister noted the importance of assimilating innovative solutions in various fields of educational activities and drew attention to the Belarusian experience in training rescuers at the University of Civil Protection at the Emergencies Ministry.
The parties concurred that raising public awareness of life safety standards is very important. Vadim Sinyavsky believes that it is important not only to equip people with knowledge about the risks of possible emergencies but also with skills of safe behavior. As an example, the head of the Belarusian delegation cited the Belarusian experience of setting up life safety educational centers and invited his Emirati counterpart to visit the Republic of Belarus.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed commitment to developing comprehensive cooperation in the field of emergency prevention and response.
Vadim Sinyavsky also held a working meeting with Eric Agyemang- Prempeh, Director General of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of Ghana. The parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation. Eric Agyemang- Prempeh expressed interest in studying the Belarusian experience of personnel training, and sending NADMO specialists to take training courses at the Civil Protection University at the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus.
Agreements were reached to send representatives of Belarusian rescue service to the African republic to study the system of emergencies response and prepare proposals for training their specialists.
Vadim Sinyavsky also met with Brig. Gen. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Shamrani, deputy head of the General Directorate of Civil Defense of Saudi Arabia.
The parties noted the great potential of bilateral cooperation in emergency response and the availability of all necessary resources for its realization.
As the main areas of interaction, the parties outlined training, exchange of experience in ensuring emergency preparedness and prompt response and also fire and rescue sports.
