Belarus deploys automated system to process personal data of aircraft passengers

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – The introduction of an automated system to process personal data of aircraft passengers is in progress in Belarus, BelTA learned from representatives of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.

According to the source, all the commercial air carriers, which offer international passenger transportation services, are supposed to collect and submit personal data of their passengers to the automated system so that the data could be processed by the Belarusian border service.

Air carriers are supposed to transfer files using API interface. Data can also be transferred in an interactive mode – iAPI.

In order to get connected to the system, the air carriers are advised to contact the Minsk National Airport, which is the enterprise in charge of operating the automated system for processing personal data of aircraft passengers. The sides will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of the process.

The source reminded that air carriers can be fined 100-500 base amounts (one base amount equals Br25.5 at present) for bringing into the country an individual without proper travel documents or an individual, whose entry has been denied (and the air carrier has been informed about it). The same fines apply for failures to submit personal data of passengers to the information systems of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry.
