MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko underscored that military commanders will be held strictly accountable for the condition of weapons and equipment as he spoke during a meeting to review the comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces on 1 April, BelTA has learned.
The president noted that the inspection focused heavily on the state of weapons, military equipment, and their maintenance conditions.
“I’m getting to the heart of it. What are we worth if our rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, and pistols are not in working order? Or for some, a portable air defense system. If our personal weapons are not ready, how will you fight? But modern warfare isn’t just machine guns, grenade launchers, rifles, and pistols. It’s your hardware. Your tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, Osa, other air defense systems. Not to mention the Polonez. This is all your equipment,” the head of state said.
“This was the main point for me. I repeatedly warned the minister and the state secretary: ‘Keep in mind, you will answer with your head for the condition of the equipment’. I’m not talking about the enlisted personnel,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
