Rapid advance of Belarus-Brazil cooperation noted

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and Brazil has been developing vigorously for the last few years. The importance of it was mentioned by Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas at a function held on 14 November on the occasion of the Day of Proclamation of the Republic of Brazil, BelTA has learned.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs noted: “In the present-day world of globalization, digital technologies, the daily hustle and bustle many people, primarily young ones, come to take independence for granted. It is important for the routine acceptance of state independence not to diminish the recognition of the value of independence.”

“As people celebrate independence, they have to remember that unfortunately state sovereignty does not guarantee peace and prosperity, yet it is an indispensable condition for the free and proper development of a nation,” the Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs believes.

Andrei Dapkiunas stressed that by establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, Belarus and Brazil chose the path of active advancement of the bilateral relations and tight mutually beneficial cooperation. A lot has been done since then, including efforts to build up the legal base and cooperation in agriculture. Belarus remains one of the largest exporters of potash fertilizers to Brazil. The diplomat noted it is necessary to establish tighter cooperation between regions of the two countries.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Belarus Paulo Fernando Dias Feres talked about his country's foreign policy geared towards friendly contacts with other countries, including with Belarus. He remarked that cultural contacts develop rapidly between Belarus and Brazil. The organization of Brazilian festivals in Minsk is a proof of that.
