Expert on strikes on pharmaceutical enterprise in Iran: A war crime

MINSK, 1 May (BelTA) – Iran can only respond to the USA asymmetrically. The Russian political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan made the statement in a recent episode of BelTA’s project On Point.

Speaking about how events in the conflict in Iran are developing, Karine Gevorgyan noted: “Contrary to the ideologists of orientalism in the West, Iran is smart. As a very educated country they have been watching everything very carefully, including modern warfare. They have learned lessons from the Karabakh war when drones were used on a massive scale for the first time. And while Russia did not particularly promote this component in its military-industrial complex, the Iranians immediately got down to business and very carefully developed their drone aviation and fleet. They paid a lot of attention to this.”

“They realized that they could only respond to such a monster and giant as the United States asymmetrically,” the expert said. “And they did it quite effectively despite the fact that, of course, damage was inflicted on the country. The tragedy with the schoolgirls in Minab, the strikes on the stadium where boys also died, and so on. Of course, all of this will be remembered by the Iranian people.”

The political scientist noted that Europe did not support the USA and Israel in the campaign against Iran. “But the countries of the Arab Peninsula, on whose territory American bases are located, undoubtedly supported it indirectly because the strikes were launched from these bases. The Iranians struck quite accurately and effectively at bases on the Arab Peninsula and it is worth noting that they destroyed a secret cloud-seeding center. And now, for the first time in 15 years (there is drought there every year), lakes and rivers are overflowing, it is raining. They say: a blessing in disguise. It is raining heavily over Iraq and Iran, reservoirs are filling up, which is very important for Iranian agriculture.”

“Interestingly, the coalition struck civilian facilities, bombed pharmaceutical plants, which is why Russia, China, and (I know that) Belarus are preparing humanitarian aid. A significant part of it consists of medications and insulin. Let us admit that this is a war crime – to bomb a pharmaceutical plant. Nevertheless, they did it in order to create such serious shortage in Iranian society. Iran has a well-developed healthcare system and very good medicine. It is no coincidence that even under all the sanctions, Iranian doctors, especially cardiologists and oncologists, continued to work at American universities while remaining citizens of Iran,” Karine Gevorgyan said.
