MINSK, 5 December (BelTA) – Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Khomenko met with Arelys Santana Bello, Chairperson of the Commission on Youth, Children, and Equal Rights for Women of Cuba’s National Assembly of People's Power, on the sidelines of the 38th General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO) in Panama City, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian upper house of parliament.
At the meeting with the Cuban delegation Sergei Khomenko noted that cooperation between the parliaments of Belarus and Cuba is gaining momentum as the two parliaments are implementing the interparliamentary cooperation agreement.
The women's agenda is viewed as a promising area of interaction between women parliamentarians of Belarus and Cuba. Our countries are also interested in cooperation and mutual support in international parliamentary organizations like the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, as well as other international platforms.
The deputy chairman of the Council of the Republic emphasized that Cuba is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus in Latin America and Belarus plans to keep working to increase and diversify the mutual trade of goods and services.
Arelys Santana Bello assured that Cuba is a reliable friend and partner of Belarus and parliamentary interaction is an additional tool to expand bilateral political, economic and humanitarian relations.
