MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Finance Minister Yuri Seliverstov talked to reporters on 26 February and commented on the opposition's calls for investment funds to sell Belarusian eurobonds, BelTA has learned.
The official said: “I stay rather calm with regard to these calls due to two reasons. First, the investment funds primarily wanted to earn money thanks to the interest rate. The floatation cost in the USA, for example, is much lower than profits from floating Belarusian bonds. I don't think the investment funds bought the bonds in order to sell them fast and lose their profit.”
“The situation with the balance of payments and the account of current transactions is positive. This is why there are no reasons to get rid of our securities,” the finance minister stressed.
