MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in increasing dairy exports to Serbia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.

The sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Serbian working group on cooperation in agriculture and food was held via videoconference at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The meeting was co-chaired by Ksenia Meleshko, Head of the Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity at the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food, and Nebojša Milosavljević, Director of the Plant Protection Administration at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia.

The parties discussed key areas of cooperation, including the development of bilateral trade, veterinary and phytosanitary collaboration, and partnership in crop and seed production. The Belarusian side noted the intensification of bilateral contacts this year and the high level of mutual trust. Serbia stands as a key partner for Belarus in the Balkans, with the relationship built upon a foundation of shared history and culture, in addition to economic cooperation.

From January to October 2025, trade turnover in food and agricultural raw materials grew by 29.8% year-on-year. Belarusian exports to Serbia increased by 37.6%, consisting mainly of dairy products, primarily skim milk powder and cheeses, along with fruits and berries, vegetables and melons, and oils and fats. Imports from Serbia also rose, notably animal feed, seed corn, and planting material.

Over the past five years, the Belarusian Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision has accredited 38 milk processing plants and 7 poultry processing plants for export to Serbia.

During the meeting, the Belarusian side confirmed its interest in increasing dairy product supplies given favorable market conditions, diversifying exports, particularly chicken eggs, canned meat, and finished meat products, increasing the number of accredited enterprises, and expanding the exchange of information and best practices.

The parties emphasized that current cooperation is already yielding tangible results for consumers in both countries, but its potential is far from exhausted. Participants expressed confidence that the further expansion of the strategic agro-industrial partnership will open up new opportunities for joint projects and facilitate mutual supplies. Cooperation between the two ministries is based on an open-ended memorandum of understanding.
