MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Air Defense units have carried out operational launches at training targets in the Russian military training area Ashuluk, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

As part of the second stage of an operational and tactical exercise for units of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces crews from air defense missile forces have successfully used air defense missile systems S-300, Tor-M2K, and Buk to perform operational launches at training targets.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko and Chief of the Air Force and Air Defense Command of Belarus’ Armed Forces Andrei Lukyanovich observed the exercise. Pavel Muraveiko noted that Belarus’ air defense system is ready and capable of ensuring security and defense of the country’s aerial borders.
“The exercise featured an entire complex of new instructional techniques, as part of which we practiced the most up-to-date variants for repulsing strikes with airborne weapons. In particular, for the first time our Tor systems practiced firing armed missiles on the move and at night. The guys did a high quality job and completed all the combat tasks. Apart from that, during the exercise we tested various actions mobile fire teams can take against the unmanned aerial complexes that were attacking our units. The mobile fire teams demonstrated high effectiveness and managed to hit the unmanned aerial complexes with sufficient accuracy. Our pilots flying Su-30 aircraft used large-range and small-range air-to-air missiles against moving targets, which could be classified as cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles,” the General Staff chief said.
