MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia provide each other with true allied support in international affairs, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.
"In the conditions of unprecedented external pressure, Russia and Belarus are closely cooperating in international affairs, always providing each other with true allied mutual support. The approaches of our countries to urgent global and regional problems are the same. Or, as diplomats often say, they are close in many respects," the president said.
He recalled that at the recent BRICS summit in Kazan it was decided to establish a new category of partner states of the association. "We are happy that Belarusian friends promptly confirmed their readiness to join the BRICS work in this capacity," Vladimir Putin stated.
