Snopkov: The results of Belarus-China cooperation exceeded expectations

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – The results of the Belarus-China cooperation over the past two years have exceeded expectations, Belarus’ First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

Responding to a question about how the Belarus-China partnership could be assessed, he stated: “The results have truly exceeded expectations.”

According to the first deputy prime minister, the leaders of Belarus and China have given impetus to further cooperation in innovation with a focus on practical implementation. “An innovation is only truly an innovation when it’s applied. If it’s not put into practice, it’s just research. We’ve seen that today, thanks to the joint efforts of our Chinese and Belarusian partners, we are realizing actual innovations that are being put into practice across various sectors,” he said.

“Technology will form the basis for the next two years of our industrial cooperation. We are currently planting, so to speak, new seeds of this cooperation into a well-prepared ground for the next few years and beyond. The integration of technology and industrial cooperation is essentially the main goal we aim to achieve through our partnership with our Chinese colleagues,” Nikolai Snopkov emphasized.

Responding to a question about which areas of development should be prioritized, the first deputy prime minister said: “We need to give additional momentum to artificial intelligence. It is probably the most sensitive, most complex, and most promising field. In other areas, such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials, aircraft manufacturing, and unmanned systems and more, Belarus and China are already engaged in steady, progressive cooperation and product development.”

Nikolai Snopkov emphasized that China is a global leader in artificial intelligence. “It’s especially important to draw on the experience, expertise, and algorithms of the People’s Republic of China,” he concluded.
