MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka will begin her campaign at the WTA-1000 tournament in Indian Wells, USA, from the second round, BelTA has learned.
In the round of 64, the world No. 1 awaits the winner of the match between U.S. Alycia Parks (world No. 96) and a qualifier. Fellow Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world No. 116), however, failed to make the main draw, falling to Kayla Day of the USA (No. 187) in the first qualifying round, 2-6, 5-7.
The main draw matches will be held on 4-15 March. The total prize fund of the Indian Wells tournament is $9.4 million. In the 2025 final, Aryna Sabalenka lost to Russian Mirra Andreeva, and in the 2023 final, she fell to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina. In 2012 and 2016, Belarusian Victoria Azarenka became the winner of this tournament.
