MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Economy Yuri Chebotar met with Ivana Živković, Assistant Administrator and Director of Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to discuss strategic areas for cooperation in sustainable development of Belarus and inclusive economic transformation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

The parties noted the long-standing and productive partnership between UNDP and Belarus. Since 1992, UNDP has been working in the country, supporting national efforts in economic and social development, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and improving the quality of life of the population. Yuri Chebotar expressed hope for future fruitful cooperation in a number of critical areas in order to promote the sustainable development of Belarus at the national and local levels.

Ivana Živković emphasized the organization’s readiness to assist Belarus in addressing new sustainable development challenges reflected in the national sustainable development strategy through 2040. Such promising areas as artificial intelligence, digital transformation and innovation, the development of the silver economy, as well as the implementation of solutions in the green and circular economy are reflected in the UNDP country program for 2026-2030 and are key for further strategic cooperation.

In recent years, the Belarusian Ministry of Economy and UNDP have developed a methodology for gender analysis of regulatory legal acts, updated the digital map of infrastructure supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, implemented mentorship programs for women and silver age entrepreneurs, and promoted the use of ESG standards in the private sector. “These results have contributed to the implementation of the state program Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurship for 2021-2025 and the national action plan to ensure gender equality in Belarus for 2021-2025. They also lay a solid foundation for further joint work to enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and inclusiveness of the national economy,” the press service noted.
