Belarus’ new ambassador to Zimbabwe names main avenues of cooperation with Africa

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Zimbabwe Yuri Nikolaichik identified the main components of cooperation with African countries during a conversation with reporters, BelTA has learned.
Yuri Nikolaichik said: “We successfully work on four components of our cooperation with Africa. Those are deliveries of machines, vehicles, and equipment and mechanization of agriculture, efforts to ensure food security, education, and healthcare. I am convinced that additional components can be added to them. For instance, African countries invest heavily in new technologies and digitization.”

Speaking about cooperation with Zimbabwe, the diplomat described the country as kind of a gateway into Africa for Belarus. “Work with Zimbabwe has become the most successful example of our country’s interaction with Sub-Saharan Africa countries. Our accomplishments meet interests in other states as well,” he stressed.
According to the new ambassador of Belarus to Zimbabwe, during the appointment meeting the head of state encouraged the ambassador to first and foremost produce results and to continue working in such areas as agriculture mechanization, education, healthcare, assistance with personnel training. “All of it is being implemented already but there are promising plans that are stipulated by the roadmap of strategic partnership for 2026-2030,” Yuri Nikolaichik added.
